About (pronounce with a Canadian accent please!) Becky
Becky Ferreira is a Canadian writer and comedian based in New York. She regularly contributes to Popular Science, Wired, and Sparknotes.com, where she hosts a popular science comedy web series called “Rocket Talk.” She has also written for New Scientist, Bust, Glamour, The Awl, Bike Radar, The L Magazine, and The Brooklyn Rail amongst other publications. She holds an MFA in Writing from the New School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from the University of British Columbia.
Becky is also a stand-up comedian, an erstwhile actress, and an award-winning musician. Her song, “I Want to Know” won the 2012 USA Science and Engineering Festival Song Contest. She has performed short and long-form improv comedy internationally for over a decade. A proud member of the creative collective Midnight Buffet (http://www.midnight-buffet.com/), Becky starred in Jaws: The Musical, which had a sold-out run in June 2010, as well as the summer 2011 production Grindhouse Musical. She founded and mastered the scientific discipline of “paleocosmology,” the study of dinosaurs in space, and has lectured on the subject to sold-out audiences.
She is a purebred raptor.
